HANDS ON CLASS – SOUTH AMERICAN COOKING – VEGETARIAN FRIENDLY – INTERNATIONAL FOODS
Join guest teacher Soraya Sus & Staff for an evening immersed in the flavorful foods of Colombia & Venezuela. Students will learn the art of creating authentic corn Arepas & sweet Cachapas. Come enjoy a night full of tasty treats cooking with us while you learn about the wonderful street foods of South America. In the class students will learn how to combine ingredients and the proper cooking technique for the perfect crispy texture to these amazing treats. Students will learn to grill their own Arepas and staff will provide a full toppings bar of fresh ingredients typically used in South America for these wonderful hot treats. Each student can choose a variety of ingredients to fill or top their created arepas & tostadas to enjoy during the class. The class will end with coffee and dessert of a type of Pineapple Egg Custard, which is a specialty dessert from the Instructors memories. The class consists of some observation and some hands-on to learn cooking techniques. All ingredients will be provided by Fat Tuscan. Aprons are recommended and note taking is encouraged. $95.00 per person, includes all ingredients, class instruction, samples of all items created in class, a dinner of warm arepas with a full toppings bar, complimentary glass of sangria and dessert with Colombian coffee to end the evening. All Recipes will be discussed in class.
About Soraya:
Soraya grew up in the pearl of Colombia’s Northern region in the town of Cu’cuta, a border city to Venezuela. She is a passionate local Gainesville artist & most recently international multi-media artist specializing in ceramics. Her vivid memories of the food culture she grew up in with the flavors of her country make her an exceptional cook as well. Her playful creativity blends into everything she does from art to cooking to her everyday interactions. All forms of art are a way to express yourself and your connections to places and people and that most especially includes foods.
